Privacy policy

Short version: we do not collect, store or sell your personal information. The numbers you type stay on your device.

What we do not collect

Every calculator and document generator runs entirely in your web browser. Names, ID numbers, addresses, bank details, rent amounts and other inputs are not sent to us or stored on our servers. PDFs and Word documents are created on your device. We have no user accounts, no sign-up forms and no newsletter.

Links you share

When you change a calculator, its numbers and dates are added to the page address (for example ?rent=9000) so that the Share button can create a link that reproduces your calculation. The lease, letter and checklist generators never put names, ID numbers, addresses or bank details in the page address. Avoid sharing links that contain figures you consider private.

Analytics

On our kayawise.co.za addresses we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages and tools people use. It is cookieless: it sets no cookies, uses no browser storage and does not fingerprint or follow you across sites. It collects aggregate page views only (for example the page visited, the referring site, and the browser, device type and country), with no personal data, and nothing you type into a tool is sent. The small script is loaded from static.cloudflareinsights.com.

Hosting logs

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use this data to identify you.

Advertising and cookies

We show ads from Google AdSense to keep the tools free. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and similar technologies to show ads, including personalised ads based on your visits to this and other websites, to limit how often you see an ad and to measure ad performance and detect fraud. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to our sites and other sites on the internet.

You can turn off personalised ads in Google's ad settings, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services in How Google uses cookies in advertising. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the calculators keep working without them.

What you type into our tools is never sent to Google or to us. Under POPIA you may object to the use of cookies for direct marketing: opting out in Google's ad settings or blocking third-party cookies stops personalised ads.

Your rights under POPIA

South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act gives you rights to know what personal information is held about you, and to ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Because we do not collect personal information through the calculators, we normally hold none. If you email us, we use your email only to reply and delete it when no longer needed. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
